.....Here you will learn the basics of each unit.........
HQ- Archon/Dracon... The leader of them all. He is very capable sending the strongest Commander to his death bed. Equip him with an agoniser, hell mask, and shadow field for a very effective unit. Incubi... The Lord's finest warriors. You will want a good force of these to back the lord up, as they excel in martial skills and will put up a great fight to even a marine. Hamonculi... The Mad Scientist of the Army. Send him in with a warrior squad to give extra help, or keep him in the back to hold a line, whatever his purpose, he will do well at it. Equip him with a Stinger and Scissor Hands for a very nice Unit.
Elites- Grotesques... Tortured slaves of the Hamonculi that love to run into battle and kill people. They are very dumb though and so are best used for a shield wall for advancing troops. Mandrakes... Where are they? They are hidden. The sneakiest unit that lives in the shadows to kill, the Mandrake is quite a deadly oppenent. Striking from no where and often unseen until it is too late, the mandrake will quickly end a marines life. Wyches... Possibly the most deadly Close Combat fighters, the wyches love to toy with their opponents. They will quickly end Guardsman's lives when they dispatch from their raider, but have no use in charging across the battlefield as they will surely die. 0-1 Warp Beast Pack... A great yet weak assault team. Due to their small numbers and high armor save, they are quite pathetic when being shot at. Keep them well hidden from cover as when used in assault can turn the tide of battle.
Troops- Dark Eldar Warriors... When used right, warriors can be a very deadly foe. They can shoot well, have good weapons, and are one of the greatest troops when it comes to close combat. Big numbers of them, 20 per squad, will keep you safe when your men take shots. When you reach the lines, you will still have many left, and enough to take the heat of a close combat battle. Raider Squad... Though the same troops are used in these, they can be considered weaker. I find them to be a waste of time, points, and even the $30.00 for the raider. I.E.- Lets first say you have a squad of 20 warriors charging across a field, 18" from the enemy straight to a squad of 5 marines. First turn, 3 die from bolters. Second turn, 3 more die from bolters. Third turn, assault, with 14 warriors left. Now, lets take a ten man Raider squad Vs. 5 marines. Raider moves 12", Gets shot down. 3 Dark Eldar die in the crash. Assault, 7 dark eldar to assault. You know what, to prove my point even more, lets say not one warrior died in the crash. Thats 14 warriors that charged across the ground Vs. 10 that made it from the raider.
Fast Attack- Hellions... I found these to be quite useful as they are fast and can easily flank the enemy. They are also good because of the new fall back rule, where they automatically fall back. Take them straight into close combat, as keeping them back will waste the unit, and cost you the game. Reaver Jetbikes... Very good, and capable of using quite good weapons such as a blaster or shredder. Take them close to the enemy, and when the time is right, take them from cover to attack the squad they weakened.
Heavy Support- Scourges... Extremely important unit. They can be used to assault, as i suggest, or stay back and fire heavy weapons, which i also suggest. Equiping 4 of 10 scourges with Splinter cannons and using them to assault can make one hell of a good unit. Keeping them back with 4 with a dark lance can be used as an excellent tank buster. Ravager... Damn good unit if i say so myself. Equip it with 2 disintegrators as even they can take down a squad of marines in just a turn or two. Leave the last gun a lance as if you are in trouble ( Fighting a Wraithlord with a squad of warriors comes to mind ) then you can take him down with the lance. Talos... I hate Talos... Well, though very powerful, they can be easily destroyed in one move by a Farseer's mind war. Take them to the line fast, and hope for good rolls to destroy the enemies lines to let your troops through.
