| Assualt On Black Reach Battle Report Follows: Setup: Orks deploy first, fielding 450 points, including 1 Warboss, 5 Nobs, 3 Defkoptas, and 20 Choppa Boyz. Marines counter with a Commander, Dreadnaught, 5 Terminators, and two squads of 5 Marines. Turn 1: Orks took first move during turn 1, moving forward on line placing the Defkoptas in range to shoot the Marines and Commander. They inflict one casualty before they assualt quickly, entering combat against perhaps one of the better Commanders in Black Reach. Though they had size and speed, it did not look good for the pilots of the Koptas. The Marines countered with heavy firepower, shredding through the Boyz' line, taking 5 with their hail of bullets, and a Nob that was unfortunate enough to keep his head up. Although the large Koptas took out two of his marines, the Commander was not dettered and smashed one of the odd machines out of the sky as it passed. Not so long a day as he assumed, maybe. Turn 2: The Orks once again took another movement forward, closing in on the thin line of the defending marines. With little impact from their shootas, the boyz decided it was smartier to rush head long into the terminators firing from a nearby position, and with their warlord urging them on, they and the nobs did just that. Unfortunatly da boss heard another of his flying machines boom, and he could not afford so many new parts... The terminators stood their ground against the green tide; After all, they had fought orks many times, and new exactly where to hit them. The roar of gunfire ceased as the orks hit the front line, and a power fist once charged and ready lay limp on the ground, but they pushed back, and froze the Ork advance, taking a few of them as collateral for their fallen brethren. Turn 3: Da boss grimaced as his third and final flyin beast crashed with a loud thud to the earth, luckily right on top of another 'eavy humie. His boyz were taking a pounding though, and he needed to drop these big ones fast. Slamming his klaw into the back of a terminator who was unfortunate enough to be paying more attention to a Nob than himself, da boss grinned, until he looked up and saw the 'naught moving closer. The Commander saw his sergeant's sword flash as he caught the arm of the flying machine's pilot, and blood sprayed as it collided into another marine, wounded and unable to move out of it's path quick enough. He scoffed, but he got over it quickly and focused his attention on the Warboss he saw begining to wear his terminators down. He called for his dreadnaught to engage, and, wiping his own sword, began running for the large melee. Turn 4: The boss saw his boyz flying and knew the metal monster had gotten here. He was so intent on finding it though, that he almost missed the smell of fresh human as the marine commander ran up on his side, brandishing a bright white sword, glistening with green light. With the Nobs holding the dreadnaught off, it was time to eliminate this bug. Seeing a clean shot at their warboss, the Commander ran full speed, up until the point the boss turned and shot, causing the Commander to miss a step, catching himself only right before the ork's klaw slammed on the ground in front of him. Turn 5: Da boss heard the sound of victory (or so he thought) when the machine known for breaking line after line of ork flickered, then died as his Nob kaptan climbed off the back. Sure, it has fallen on another Nob, but its all in a good dayz work, right? Too bad his boyz were being beat, the few left scared and barely helping the fight. With only one terminator remaining, and his sergeant badly wounded, the Commander knew he was going to have serious trouble holding off the rest of the Orks by himself. He cut the arm of the warboss, but it left his side open, and he felt a sharp pain as the boss' klaw found it. Deflecting it just before it became fatal, he staggered back to get his feet. He looked at the sky, but no drop pod would come... Turn 6: The Nobz cheered as they slay the last Terminator, and turned their attention to the remaining Marines. Da Boss was easily managing the puny humie; his sword only moving to defend, but da boss looked slow too, his right arm dragging on the ground, his shoota silent. The commander could barely breath, but he had held the boss off so his marines could prepare a defense, and they would need it. He saw the Orks running in the direction of the pass that leads directly to the Marine camp, now defended by only a handful; and prayed that they were ready... SUMMARY: Remaining Forces: 3 Nobz, Warboss. 125 Points. 28% 5 Marines, Commander. 185 Points. 31% Minor Marine Victory! |
